The Repair Works repair platform

A UK mail-in repair business built from scratch as a working platform rather than a brochure site. Online booking and card payments, automatic customer updates and live repair tracking, plus a large content build designed to rank on a brand-new domain.

The brief

The Repair Works needed more than a website. It needed to take bookings and card payments, track each repair from arrival to return, and keep customers updated automatically, all for one repairer working by post across the UK.

It also had to grow through search alone. Google Ads aren't allowed for most third-party repair services, so ranking organically on a new domain was the only way to reach customers, and the whole build was shaped around that.

  • Launched September 2026
  • 75+ in-depth service and advice pages
  • £0 ad spend, all organic
  • UK-wide mail-in service

Book, pay and track

The site is a custom Laravel application built on ReGraded, my own multi-tenant platform, not an off-the-shelf theme. Customers pick their device and fault, see a fixed or "from" price, and book and pay online in a few steps. Jobs that need inspecting first get a separate quote-and-pay route. Prices are checked on the server, so the amount charged always matches the live catalogue.

Customers kept in the loop

Every customer gets an account with live repair tracking and an email at each stage: received, quoted, repaired and dispatched. For a one-person business, that automation does the chasing and reassuring, so bench time stays on the bench. Prices and content are all editable from a custom admin, without touching code.

Built to rank from day one

With no ads to fall back on, the site was structured for search from the start. It has a hub-and-spoke layout, structured data on every service, and a library of in-depth service and advice pages written from 25 years of hands-on repair work rather than thin filler. That's what earns rankings in a niche where ads aren't an option. For the approach, see why separate service pages matter.

Technical stack

  • Back end: Laravel, PHP and MySQL
  • Front end and SEO: Blade, Tailwind CSS and Schema.org structured data
  • Payments and hosting: Stripe, Laravel Forge and Hetzner

New repair categories can be added without a rebuild, and each one brings more content and more ways in on the same foundation.
